Paulie the Panther

Using the Mascot

Paulie the Panther is the official mascot of Pope John Paul II High School and a central symbol of school spirit, pride, and community.

Paulie represents the energy of student life while honoring the legacy of PJP and the generations of Panthers who came before. As a character, Paulie provides a welcoming and expressive presence that complements the school’s institutional voice.

Paulie is an intentional part of the PJP brand system and plays a distinct role alongside the school’s formal identity.

Paulie’s Role

Paulie exists to strengthen the emotional and cultural side of the PJP brand.

Paulie is used to:

  • Celebrate school spirit and Panther pride

  • Encourage student engagement and participation

  • Support athletics, events, and student life

  • Represent community, unity, and belonging

  • Serve as a recognizable and approachable brand ambassador

Paulie adds personality and energy where appropriate, without replacing the school’s formal voice.

When to Use Paulie

Paulie may be used in:

  • Spirit campaigns and school celebrations

  • Student life communications

  • Athletics promotions and game-day materials

  • Pep rallies, assemblies, and events

  • Social media content centered on pride and participation

Paulie should always be clearly identifiable as the voice or visual focus when used.

When Not to Use Paulie

To maintain clarity and credibility, Paulie should not be used for:

  • Academic or instructional communications

  • Administrative or policy messaging

  • Legal, disciplinary, or institutional notices

  • Official statements on behalf of school leadership

These communications should always use the primary PJP brand voice and visual system.

Paulie Voice Guidelines

When Paulie is the voice of a message, the tone should be:

  • Encouraging and positive

  • Confident and proud, never sarcastic

  • Inclusive and respectful

  • Energetic without being exaggerated

  • Timeless rather than trendy

Paulie should never use slang, memes, or internet humor. The character should feel enduring and aligned with the values of the PJP community.

Paulie Visual Identity

Paulie may appear in illustrated, graphic, or physical mascot form across approved applications.

All Paulie visuals should:

  • Align with the approved PJP color palette

  • Reflect consistency in character and expression

  • Be used intentionally rather than decoratively

  • Support school spirit and community connection

Detailed guidance for Paulie illustrations, animation, and mascot applications may be expanded in future versions of the brand system.

Paulie Paw Print

The Paulie paw print is an approved secondary graphic element associated with Paulie the Panther.

It serves as a simplified, flexible expression of Panther pride and may be used when a full Paulie illustration or mascot presence is not practical.

Appropriate uses include:

  • Spirit and student life materials

  • Athletics promotions and events

  • Social media graphics tied to Panther pride

  • Decorative accents in Paulie-led designs

The paw print should always feel connected to Paulie and school spirit, not institutional branding.

Guidelines:

  • Use only approved paw print artwork

  • Follow the official PJP color palette

  • Do not modify, stylize, or recreate the paw print

  • Do not use as a replacement for official school logos

The paw print is a supporting element, not a primary identifier.

Paulie Typography

When Paulie is the voice or focal point of a message, the approved Paulie Print font may be used.

Guidelines:

  • Use only for short, expressive text

  • Never use for body copy

  • Never replace Chronicle or Montserrat

  • Use only when Paulie is clearly present as the character

This font exists to express school spirit, not to replace the core typography system.

Paulie AI and Assisted Messaging

PJP may provide optional AI-assisted tools to help draft Paulie-led messaging for spirit-focused communications.

These tools are intended to:

  • Support student life messaging

  • Maintain a consistent Paulie voice

  • Help generate ideas for events, campaigns, and announcements

All Paulie AI content must be reviewed by a human before use and must follow PJP brand standards.

Paulie AI is a creative support tool, not an authority.

Looking Ahead

As Pope John Paul II High School continues to grow, Paulie will remain an important part of how the school celebrates spirit, community, and legacy.

Thoughtful enhancements to Paulie’s presence and expression may be introduced in future school years, honoring tradition while creating new opportunities for connection and engagement.
