Traditions
Rooted in Faith. Built on Legacy.
Pope John Paul II High School is built on over 150 years of faith, pride, and shared tradition. Throughout the year, we come together to celebrate, serve, and strengthen the bonds that make PJP a family. From long-standing student events to cherished community celebrations, each tradition reflects the spirit of faith, service, and excellence that defines our culture.
Faith at the Heart of Our Community
Faith is central to everything we do at Pope John Paul II High School. Through school-wide Masses, prayer services, and faith-based celebrations, our community comes together to live the Gospel and grow closer to God. From Catholic Schools Week and Christian service projects to retreats like Kairos and Friends in Faith, each tradition strengthens our connection to one another and to our shared mission of faith, service, and excellence.

WORSHIP & REFLECTION
Faith is at the heart of life at PJP. Through school-wide Liturgies and Masses, and meaningful spiritual experiences like Kairos and Camp Caritas, students grow in faith and unity as a community rooted in Christ.

SERVICE & OUTREACH
Faith comes alive through service. Students live out the Gospel by giving their time and talents through Christian Service Hours, PAWS Service Day, Blood Drives, and the Friends in Faith program. Each opportunity encourages compassion, leadership, and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve others.

IDENTITY & ADVOCACY
Our Catholic identity is celebrated throughout the year with events such as Catholic Schools Week, the March for Life, the Stand Up for Life Dinner, and Family Communion Lunches. These experiences strengthen our shared mission to serve, advocate, and live with faith in all we do.
Pride That Brings Us Together
School spirit runs deep at PJP. Students, alumni, and families unite throughout the year to celebrate Panther pride through traditions such as Homecoming, Panthers vs. Cancer, Show Choir, Spring Musicals, and Pantherthon. Whether we are cheering in the stands, raising money for a cause, or dancing through the night, these events remind us that being a Golden Panther means belonging to something greater. It is a community built on energy, compassion, and heart.

PRIDE & CELEBRATION
Panther pride shines throughout the year during Spirit Week, Homecoming, Blue & Gold Day, and the highly anticipated Pantheron. Students, alumni, and families come together to celebrate friendship, teamwork, and school spirit through events that create lasting memories. Senior celebrations such as Senior Sunrise and Senior Picnic mark milestones that honor the journey from student to graduate.

ARTS & PERFORMANCE
The arts bring our community to life through the Christmas and Spring Concerts, the Spring Musical, Show Choir, the Art Show, and Coffeehouse. Each performance and exhibit highlights the creativity, dedication, and talent of our students while showcasing the strong connection between faith, expression, and excellence.

CONNECTION & LEGACY
Traditions such as Grandparent’s Day, Open House, Shadow Days, Career Day, the Legacy Hall of Fame, and Alumni Socials strengthen the ties that unite generations of Panthers. These moments celebrate the people who have shaped our story and remind us that the PJP community extends far beyond the classroom.
Celebrating Generosity and Growth
The strength of PJP comes from the people who believe in its mission. Annual events like the Savor the Flavor dinner and the Legacy Classic golf outing bring together alumni, families, and friends to celebrate our community and raise vital support for our students. These traditions not only fund scholarships, programs, and facility improvements, but also honor the legacy of giving that continues to shape our future and keep our doors open to everyone.
