The Legacy of Impact Hall of Fame celebrates alumni, educators, coaches, and community members from Pope John Paul II High School and its legacy schools whose faith, leadership, and service have left a lasting mark on our shared history. Each inductee reflects the values of Catholic education and the spirit of excellence that continues to inspire generations.

Tom Parlapiano, St. Pius X, 1999

Tom Parlapiano, a 1999 graduate of St. Pius X High School, established himself as one of the most accomplished distance runners in school history. He was a three-time PAC-10 and District 1 cross-country champion from 1996 through 1998, winning consecutive individual state championships in 1997 and 1998 while helping St. Pius X capture the team state title in 1998. He earned first-team All-State honors twice and qualified for the Foot Locker National Championship as one of the top 32 cross-country runners in the country. Tom was equally successful on the track, winning the 1998 indoor 3,000-meter state championship, the 1998 outdoor 1,600-meter title, and consecutive outdoor 3,200-meter titles in 1998 and 1999. He continued his success in college, earning All-American honors in cross country, winning a Big East title in the 1,500 meters, and qualifying for the NCAA Championships. His achievements remain an important part of the St. Pius X athletic legacy.

1979 St. Pius X Boys Basketball Team

The 1978–79 St. Pius X boys’ basketball team completed one of the most memorable seasons in school history. After a 1–5 start, the Winged Lions finished the regular season 14–10, earning pivotal victories over AA champion Pottsgrove and AAA champion Coatesville to secure the final invitation to the district tournament. They went on to win 10 consecutive postseason games, defeating Collingdale for the district title, St. Clair in the Eastern Final, and Conemaugh Township, 57–51, at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena to capture the PIAA Class A State Championship—the first team state title in school history.

Led by Head Coach Tom McGee and assistants Frank Mack, Ed Kirschner, John Pontin, and Pete Sovia, the team included co-captains Steve Jamison and Chris O’Connell, along with Rodney Williams, Calvin Mangum, Dan Yentz, James Mooney, Steve Krayeski, Mike Agresta, Dave Urban, Tom Healy, Mike Healy, and Paul Shoemaker. Their perseverance, teamwork, and belief in one another remain an important part of St. Pius X and PJP athletic history.

Rev. Christopher Redcay, Bishop Kenrick, 1980

Reverend Christopher Redcay grew up in St. Patrick Parish in Norristown, where his family were longtime parishioners. He graduated from St. Patrick School in 1976 and Bishop Kenrick High School in 1980 before being ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1989.

Father Redcay has devoted 16 years of his priesthood to Catholic education, serving as a teacher, campus minister, assistant principal, and, from 2001 to 2007, president of Kennedy-Kenrick High School. He also spent 16 years as a pastor, serving at Our Lady of Ransom Parish in Philadelphia and St. Patrick Parish in Malvern. In 2023, he became director of spiritual formation at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary and was appointed rector in 2025.

Father Redcay holds a Master of Divinity from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, a master’s degree in educational administration from Saint Joseph’s University, and a certificate in spiritual direction from the Institute for Priestly Formation. His life and ministry reflect a deep commitment to Catholic education, pastoral leadership, and service to the Church.

Christopher Lubanski, Kennedy-Kenrick, 2003

Chris Lubanski was drafted in the First Round of Major League Baseball's 2003 amateur draft, the #5 pick in the nation. He earned multiple recognitions while a student athlete at Kennedy-Kenrick, including a two-time Philadelphia Catholic League MVP, a Gold and Bronze medalist with Team USA, Baseball America and USA Today First- Team All-American, Florida State University scholarship recipient, and Gatorade National High School Baseball Player of the Year.

Chris garnered Top Prospect accolades in his first season of professional baseball and earned All-Star honors at every level of the minor leagues, including garnering the most votes for the 2010 Triple-A All-Star Game. Retiring in 2012, Chris graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016. He is now a Director in Global Markets at BNP Paribas in New York City and resides with his wife Keri and three children—Colton, Callan, and Kollyns—in West Caldwell, NJ.

Regarding his Catholic school education, Chris said “it has provided myself with a foundation of faith that has guided me long after graduation and has influenced every part of my life. The Catholic values instilled in me at Kennedy-Kenrick and reinforced at home by my family, are the same values my wife Keri and I impart on our children today.”

Brian Leahy, Bishop Kenrick, 1987

Brian Leahy established himself as one of the most accomplished basketball players in Bishop Kenrick High School history. A three-time First-Team All-Catholic and three-time All-City selection, he scored more than 1,400 career points and became Kenrick’s all-time leading scorer. In 1984, he was recognized as one of the top 200 high school players in the country and earned a full basketball scholarship to Saint Joseph’s University. Brian later brought his experience and love of the game to coaching, serving young athletes at Bishop Kenrick, the Perkiomen Valley School District, the Perkiomen Valley Youth Travel Program, and several AAU programs.

For the past 20 years, Brian has also served as the owner and president of his own company. His greatest source of pride, however, is the family he has built with his wife, Coleen. Their son, Christopher, and his wife, Katie, and their daughter, Katie, and her husband, Tom, have brought them tremendous joy, most recently with the arrival of their first grandchild, Molly Elizabeth.

Nomination Process

There are two ways an individual or a team can be nominated for the Legacy of Impact Hall of Fame.

1) Individuals from the PJP and Legacy school communities (see above for the list of legacy schools) can complete the form below to nominate an individual or team to the Legacy of Impact Hall of Fame. Forms must be received no later than April 30th in a given year.

2) Members of the nomination committee can nominate individuals or teams as well by bringing forth such names at a committee meeting. The nominating committee will review all names submitted and make the selections of the inductees for that given year. Inductees will be notified by a member of the committee once a decision is made.

The submission of a name does not mean that the individual or team you nominated is going to be selected for the Legacy of Impact Hall of Fame. That decision is the sole responsibility of the committee.

School Impact
Significant contributions to the PJP and legacy school community, including involvement in school activities, volunteering, philanthropy, or mentorship.

Commitment to Service
Active participation and leadership in community service, charity work, or other civic activities that reflect the values of the Catholic faith.

Role Model
Serving as a positive role model for current students, inspiring them through their achievements and character.
