Message from the Office of School Ministry
Thank you for visiting the School Ministry portion of our website! Our role at PJP is to cultivate opportunities for students and faculty to have personal encounters with God. Through the celebration of the sacraments, the propagation of the faith, and the cultivation of the spiritual life, we enable all persons to come to a deeper understanding of who God is, who they are, and how a relationship with God impacts their life and the lives around them for the better.
Each year the Ministry Office selects a theme which guides our programming for the year. This year our theme is Generously Answering Jesus’ Call. This theme comes from a message given by our patron, Pope Saint John Paul II, to the Guides and Scouts of Europe in 2003. In his message, he encouraged the young people to be generous in their commitment to being Jesus’ witnesses, reminding them that this is only possible “through a genuine life of prayer nourished by the sacraments, especially Eucharist and Confession.” In choosing this theme for this year it is
our hope that, by frequently making available the sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist and by instilling in our students the value of praying daily, we will empower them to be generous gifts to God and their community.
As we strive this school year to realize and answer Jesus’ call, please know that we, the staff of the Ministry Office, look forward to the opportunity to walk with each of our students, faculty, and staff on their journey to do just that in the spirit of our patron, Pope Saint John Paul II.
