December 22, 2020, Royersford, PA. - The Connelly Foundation has issued Pope John Paul II High School (PJP) a $25,000 grant to help support activities and alleviate expenses related to the recovery from COVID-19. This grant will allow PJP to embrace platforms in order to establish a truly interactive remote classroom learning environment for problem-solving and project-based learning in STEM-related academic programs.
“One of the goals of the current PJP strategic plan is to introduce a dedicated STEM program that highlights the interdisciplinary STEM fields,” said Reverend Brian Kean, Principal of Pope John Paul II High School, “this grant will go a long way in helping PJP achieve this strategic goal.”
The vision of the PJP STEM Pathways program is to provide students with interactive, project-based, and collaborative learning environments. This grant coupled with the recent addition of an Anatomage Table, a virtual dissection table, will allow PJP to make great strides in achieving its vision of being a leader in STEM Pathways programs. PJP is the only high school in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to have an Anatomage Table. We are furthering this initiative by looking to add the necessary cameras and in-class technology to allow our STEM and health science students to interact not only with each other and the faculty but with students across the world to facilitate a global STEM program at PJP.
“Pope John Paul II High School is extremely grateful to the Connelly Foundation for their continued support of PJP and Catholic Education, especially during these unprecedented times,” said Mr. Vincent Cazzetta, President of Pope John Paul II High School.
